5 Things to Add to Your Morning Routine for a More Productive Day
Your days as a small business owner are hectic – you’re dealing with employees, customers, and suppliers. You likely feel like you’re constantly putting out fires and trying to get your small business to grow. A morning routine can help you stay productive all day. Different things work for different people, so don’t be afraid to experiment to find the perfect morning routine. Consider adding these five things to get you started:
1. Wake up at the same time each morning
It’s tempting to sleep in on the weekends, but that can disrupt your sleep cycle. Before you know it, you’re staying up too late on Sunday night and can’t drag yourself out of bed on Monday. Instead, try to wake up at the same time every day. This way, you’ll wake up every day refreshed and ready to go.

2. Drink a glass of water
Drinking a glass of water every morning rehydrates your body and helps wakes you up. Don’t worry – you can still have your morning cup of coffee!
3. Keep your phone and laptop off
If you look at your phone or turn on your computer first thing in the morning, you’ll easily be distracted. For example, if you received an unpleasant email during the night, you’ll be in a bad mood before you even get started for the day. Instead, keep your phone and laptop off while you’re getting ready and wait until you’re at work to turn them on.
4. Exercise
Exercising is critical for staying healthy. Maybe you always plan to go to the gym around lunchtime, but things pop up that prevent you from going. Make sure you’re getting plenty of exercise by doing it before you start working for the day. You don’t have to go to the gym or for a long run – stretching or doing some yoga can help you wake up and get energized for the day ahead.
